Quang Ho Discusses the Evolution of Seeing

Thinking about an artist's journey and how they see is paramount to their painting process. The amateur artist may see every leaf on a tree, every crack in the pavement, every wrinkle on a person's face or hand. As an artist's techniques evolve, so does how an artist's sees.

There are so many elements to creating a work of art. How that piece of art tells a story is not only made up of the subject but is broken down into shapes, edges, composition, design, color, and so much more.  Artists stand before the works of past masters, dissecting each brushstroke, each color choice, and each edge through their eyes.

Seeing is unique to each artist, collector, historian, and individual, and each generation of humans has seen things differently. The phrase "We don't see eye to eye" is a very true statement. While we may agree on a specific point, that may not be true when we drill down to the nitty-gritty.  An artist presents their view of what they see.

From the cave paintings to the present time, how we see what is important for the artist to convey starts first with how an artist sees. In this Art Chat, Master Art Quang Ho discusses the evolution of seeing.
